Sameer Uchi talks personalisation and modification of his 2016 Jeep Wrangle Sahara Unlimited.
Jeep Wrangler Sahara. The name says it all. It was created for these terrains, it was made for the desert. The ultimate off roader. Designed to eat dirt, destroy rocky roads, and climb mountains. But imagine if you could do more, imagine if you could take it that one step further, if you could make it yours. Our own Sameer Uchi has done just that and we got a chance to sit down and have a chat with him about the modifications he has made to his very own 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited.
Car Make and Model:
Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited
Year of the Car:
What cars have you previously owned?
I Still own a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and a Porsche 911 Turbo (996) manual.
Have you modified any previous cars, or is this your first?
You can say, this is the first I have actually modified to the bone. Previously I used to have a Mercedes ML320 which I completely kitted with a Brabus body kit and wheels, but it was always cosmetic stuff. This is the first time I have gone under the exterior.
Why this car?
The Jeep Wrangler is one of the most iconic American cars and the only American car that can be modified in every way you can imagine. Also, due to the fact the style hardly changes, it happens to be the best American car to have in terms resale value.
Did you buy this car with the intention of modifying it?
Yes thats totally true. Even before owning the car, I knew what i wanted to with it.
How long have you had the car, and how long before you decided and started the modification process?
Because I already had a plan for it, the process was instant. I bought the Jeep in May, shopped for all the parts in the United states in July and the container arrived in September. The car was ready by Oct 2016.
Why did you decide to modify it?
The way I see it, modifying your ride is a way of expressing your individuality. I had a particular look that I wanted to create and I went out and did it. I also really like the fact it looks completely different to other modified Wranglers.
Where did you order all the parts from?
Every thing is from the USA. I basically had a shopping list and I went jeep crazy when I went to the states last summer. I had my parts list ready and if i saw some accessory or part that was functional and necessary I kept adding it to the basket.
Where did you get you car modified in Bahrain?
The entire thing was been modified at Automax Car Care.
Did you encountered any problems whist modifying the car? If so what? And how did you overcome them?
None whatsoever, its been a very smooth process. Most of the parts were custom built for the Wrangler and they were bolt-ons. Therefore it was easy to install them.
What are the before and after effects?
Before it felt like a slow, soft ride - a little wobbly, especially around corners. Now I absolutely love the way it looks, handles and performs. It's amazing how just a few modification’s can change the whole experience of the car.
What’s the max speed the car is capable of?
Lets just say, more than before!
If you don’t mind saying roughly how much have you spent doing this car up?
With the parts, shipping and fittings I’d say around BD5200.
How much time have you spent on this car? And has it been an enjoyable project?
It was a great experience, I learned so much that I would gladly do it again.
If money was no object what would be your dream modification project?
The Jeep Wrangler... and as you can see, I’ve already done it.
